The need to respond to the covid-19 crisis has led to a momentum in countries’ efforts on health and international collaboration, as seen with the COVAX initiative. However, there are huge differences in the capacity of high-, middle- and lower-income countries to respond to this and other health emergencies. Where are we in achieving the goal of ‘good health and well-being’ for all? what is the way forward?
