Diego Piacentini

Former Commissioner Digital Transformation, Italian Government; Former Senior VP International Consumer Business, Amazon

Diego Piacentini is the founder of View Different, an investment vehicle that supports entrepreneurs looking to scale their business and/or expand beyond their domestic markets. The core of his business career was with Amazon and Apple, the majority of which was at Amazon (2000-2016) as Senior Vice President of the International Consumer Business and member of the senior executive team. Prior to that, Diego joined Apple Computer Italy (1987), and after ten years was promoted to the post of General Manager and Vice President of Apple EMEA. Most recently, he served a two-year civil servant term (2016-2018) as Italian Government Commissioner for the Digital Transformation, reporting directly to the Prime Minister. 
Diego is currently Chairman of the Board for Apolitical, a global learning platform for government, and a member of the Boards of Directors of The Economist Group and Voi Technology, a European multimodal micromobility provider. He is a Senior Advisor for KKR, a leading global investment firm and is also Advisor and Chairman of Exor Ventures, supporting its activities and operations. Additionally, he is an informal advisor/mentor to many startups in both Europe and the US. 

His other affiliations include: mentor for Endeavor Global, an NGO leading the high impact entrepreneurship movement around the world; and board member of Endeavor Italy, which he co-founded in 2016, the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), an independent global health research center at the University of Washington, and the Maasai Association, supporting education and health initiatives in Kenya. 

Diego graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Economics from University Bocconi in 1985 and served a term on the Board of Directors, as well as the Executive and Tech Steering Committees, from November 2018 through October 2022.
