Dr. Gelsomina Vigliotti began her term as EIB Vice-President on 11 October 2021. Her areas of oversight include financing of SMEs and mid-caps, equity and equity-type products, EIB-EIF cooperation, counterpart monitoring and restructuring, new products and special transactions, microfinance, financing operations in Italy, Malta, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine and Syria. Prior to this, she served as the Director General for International Financial Relations at the Italian Treasury Department (2016-2021), Director of the Office for Economic and Monetary Union policy issues and preparation of Ecofin and Eurogroup meetings, Alternate Member of the Economic and Financial Committee of the European Union, and Alternate Director of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) and the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF).
