ISPI International

The Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit think tank providing leading research and viable policy options to government officials, business executives and the public at large wishing to better understand international issues. Founded in Milan, Italy, in 1934 thanks to the support of a group of businessmen led by Alberto Pirelli, founder of Pirelli S.p.A., ISPI has always adopted a pragmatic approach in analyzing geographical areas and topics of particular interest to Italy and Europe.

ISPI is the only Italian think tank – and among the few in Europe – combining policy-oriented research with an equally significant commitment to education and training, to conferences and advice on international trends for businesses, Institutions and the wider audience. Its work features an inter-disciplinary approach and partnerships with leading think tanks and universities from all over the world.

New technologies are transforming geopolitics, even in the wider Mediterranean region, shaping the region's economy and energy sectors. Despite their potential, these technologies face challenges like supply chain issues, the cost of scaling up, efficiency improvements and the risks of new dependencies and monopolies. This event offers insights from on the Mediterranean’s role in the new geopolitics of technology and focuses on the social implications and industrial challenges of the twin green and digital transitions in the region.

The Black Sea has stood as a pivotal geostrategic crossroad for centuries, serving as a bridge between Europe and Asia and attracting a variety of interests and power projections. The world is awash in debt. Global debt today exceeds 300 trillion dollars, over 3 times the annual world economic output. Poor and developing countries are suffering the most as their debt burden hampers their ability to grow. High interest rates are just making things worse.
