Ranieri Guerra

Assistant Director-General, World Health Organization (WHO)

Ranieri Guerra is the Assistant Director-General for Strategic Initiatives (Polio Eradication, Polio Transition, Antimicrobial Resistance and Migrant Health). Dr. Guerra previously served as Director General for Preventive Health of the Italian Ministry of Health and Chief Medical Officer of Italy. Additional roles undertaken by Dr. Guerra include serving as Scientific Attaché at the Embassy of Italy in Washington, DC, Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre and Director of the Office of External Relations at the President’s Cabinet at the Italian National Institute of Health.

He has published extensively on humanitarian and emergency operations as well as health reform suggestions in developing and transitional countries. In addition, he has collaborated with the European Commission and several multilateral organizations.
