Monica Maggioni is an Italian journalist and writer. She has been President of Rai – Radiotelevisione Italiana – from 2015 until 2018 and CEO of Rai Com SpA commercial branch of Rai, Radiotelevisione Italiana Group until 2020. From 2021 to 2023, she was Director of Tg1.
She has been Vice President of EBU, the European Broadcasting Union. Monica Maggioni sits on the Administrative Board of ISPI (Milan) and she is also a member of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) and of the Aspen Institute.
As a journalist, she has covered consistently Middle East affairs with a specific focus on Iran. Moreover, sho worked at Rainews24. In November 2019, she was awarded the honourable Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur and in 2023 she was appointed by the Rai Board of Directors as Head of the Editorial Department for the Information Offer.
She is Professor of History of Contemporary Conflicts, Faculty of Political Sciences at Cattolica del Sacro Cuore University in Milan.
