Mohamed Al Hassan is the Special Representative for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). He has more than 30 years of experience in diplomacy, peacebuilding, and development, having served in senior roles within Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as Ambassador to the Russian Federation with concurrent accreditation to several countries, and as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York and Geneva. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Washington, a master’s in International Relations from St. John’s University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics.
