Luca Raineri is Assistant Professor in security studies at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies of Pisa (Italy). He was a member of the Research School on peace and conflict in Oslo (2014-2016) and a visiting researcher at the Autonomous University of Madrid (2017). His research draws on critical security and conflict studies, and investigates transnational phenomena of security relevance (terrorism, organized crime, migration, climate change). Focusing in particular on Africa and the European extended Mediterranean neighborhood, he has carried out field research in Mali, Niger, Senegal, Benin, Mauritania, Tunisia. He is the author of numerous scientific publications in international academic journals, contributions in books and monographs. Dr Raineri has also consulted for research centres and international organizations – governmental and non-governmental – dealing with peacebuilding, security and development.
