Lise Grande is the CEO of the U.S. Institute of Peace, an independent, nonpartisan, federally funded institute charged with the mission to prevent, mitigate, and resolve violent conflict around the world. She has 25 years of continuous overseas experience leading, managing, and coordinating complex operations for the United Nations. Grande has held leadership positions in humanitarian, stabilization, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, and development operations in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the Caucasus.

The Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit think tank providing leading research and viable policy options to government officials, business executives and the public at large wishing to better understand international issues. As cross-border clashes between Hezbollah and Israel intensify, Lebanon fears a further escalation of tensions that could spread throughout the country. Beyond the ongoing conflict, the country is grappling with multiple crises: a political stalemate that has left Lebanon without a president for almost two years and an economic-financial crisis that has been strangling it for five years.
