Dr. La Toya Waha has been responsible for migration and displacement in the Social Cohesion Department (AuB) since January 2021. From 2019 to 2020 she worked in the regional program Political Dialogue Asia in Singapore on transnational security aspects, multilateral cooperation and the regional integration of South and Southeast Asia. She received her PhD in political science from Heidelberg University in 2018. Her dissertation deals with the influence of religion on political action and violence in the context of state formation using the example of radical Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka. Before joining the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, she worked on a political advisory research project on the connection between migration, religion and radicalization at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence (IKG) at Bielefeld University. Among other things, she was a visiting researcher at the Center d’Études de l’Inde et de l’Asie du Sud (CEIAS) in Paris and at the Social Policy Analysis and Research Center (SPARC) of the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka
