Dr. Rassas is the first woman and the first Arab/Palestinian to serve as President of UNIMED, the Mediterranean Universities Union. With a distinguished career in academia, public service, and international cooperation, she has previously served as Personal Advisor to the former Palestinian Prime Minister and played a leading role in advancing key health and civil rights legislation.
She is the founder of the first College of Optometry in Palestine and of the Global Health Institute during the COVID-19 pandemic, and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of An Najah National University Hospital. Dr. Rassas has been honored internationally, including the French National Order of Merit (Chevalier) and the Order of St. John from Queen Elizabeth II, for her contributions to health, education, and international relations.
