Javier Colomina is the Special Representative of the NATO Secretary General for the Southern Neighbourhood. He entered the diplomatic service in 2001. He was First Secretary of the Mission of Spain to the U.N. (2002-2006) and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Spain in Damascus, Syria (2006-2008). From 2011 to 2014, Colomina served as Political Counsellor at Embassy of Spain in Buenos Aires, and Senior Adviser for multilateral and security issues of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain from 2011 to 2014. He worked also as Deputy Permanent Representative of the Spanish Delegation to NATO (2017-2021) and Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy and NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia (2021-2024).
