Franco Accordino is Head of the “Investment in High-Capacity Networks” Unit at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT), where he leads initiatives supporting the deployment of very high-capacity broadband networks across the EU.
He previously headed the “Knowledge Management and Innovative Systems” Unit, developing advanced digital solutions in areas such as data analytics, web platforms, and artificial intelligence, and led the “Digital Futures” Task Force on long-term digital policy foresight.
Before joining the European Commission, he worked at the ETH Zurich / Swiss National Supercomputing Centre and at Italy’s National Research Council on formal methods and complex systems.
