Fabrizio Lobasso has been a career diplomat since 1997 and is currently Deputy Director General for Sub-Saharan African countries at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He previously served as Consul in Athens and as Italy’s Ambassador to Khartoum. In 2017, he founded the world’s first Chair of Intercultural Diplomacy at UNINT in Rome, where he teaches as adjunct professor. He trained at Harvard (Public Leadership) and the Geneva Center for Security Policy (Violent Extremism), holds a PhD in Political Science on Sufism and radicalism in Sudan, and is Visiting Professor at El Nilein University in Khartoum.
