Deodat Maharaj is the Executive Director of the UN Technology Bank for Least Developed Countries (UNTB). He brings more than 25 years of international leadership experience, including extensive work in and with Least Developed Countries across Africa, Asia, the Pacific, and the Caribbean.
Before joining UNTB, he was Executive Director of the Caribbean Export Development Agency in Barbados, Deputy Secretary General for Economic and Social Development at the Commonwealth (2014–2017), and held senior positions with the United Nations Development Programme both in the field and at headquarters.
Mr Maharaj is the third Executive Director of UNTB and leads its mission to leverage science, technology, and innovation to accelerate the development agenda of the 45 Least Developed Countries—the world’s most vulnerable nations.
