Journalism serves as a vital lens through which the world perceives and understands the realities of war. In times of conflict, war correspondents are not merely storytellers; they are the eyes and ears of humanity, bringing to light events that might otherwise remain shrouded in darkness. Their work is essential in providing timely information, often in environments fraught with complexity and deliberate obfuscation. By amplifying the voices of victims, war journalism holds power to account and preserves the human dimension of conflicts. Yet, the path of a war journalist is anything but straightforward. Reporting from conflict zones entails navigating immense personal danger, as well as censorship and misinformation. Journalists often find themselves in hostile environments where their presence is not only unwelcome but actively resisted.

What role does journalism play in ensuring accountability during conflicts, and how can this be strengthened in an era of growing disinformation and eroding trust? How can journalists effectively report on the complexities of war while navigating the above-mentioned challenges? What concrete measures can be taken to enhance the safety of journalists in conflict zones, and how can international organizations play a meaningful role in supporting them?
