As the crossroads between Africa, Asia and Europe, the MENA region is attracting increasing interest from competing global actors determined to enhance transcontinental connectivity projects. The region is ideally positioned to reap significant benefits in terms of economic growth, technological upgrade, and sustainable development.In this context, IMEC (India-Middle East-Europe economic corridor) has emerged as a diversified network of interconnected corridors facilitating the flow of goods, energy and data, which may also contribute to Europe’s diversification of trade routes. Yet, as with other infrastructure initiatives, IMEC needs to address an increasingly fraught geopolitical scenario, where current instability has made regional cooperation increasingly difficult. How to foster connectivity projects in a time of geopolitical uncertainties? How can competing infrastructural projects coexist and enhance shared prosperity? How to strengthen partnerships between international actors and regional stakeholders?
