Across the MENA region, sport is emerging as a powerful catalyst for economic, social, diplomatic and cultural transformations. From hosting flagship tournaments to investing in cutting-edge facilities, MENA governments are increasingly leveraging sport as a tool of soft power and a key instrument to prompt economic growth, promote social cohesion and empower youth. As a result, sport has become one of the pillars of national agendas to diversify economies, boost international visibility, and foster cross-border cooperation. Nonetheless, the MENA’s sports economy cannot fully unlock its potential without first confronting persistent structural, institutional, and social obstacles. This panel examines how MENA countries can align international ambitions with grassroots impact. How can they ensure sport’s long-term legacy, one that can drive both regional stability and inclusive global partnerships? How are MENA governments reshaping the future of global sport?
