Forum NATO
The Mediterranean Region impacted by the New Security Environment – an agenda for NATO building on the Madrid Strategic Concept
Organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and NATO
The Forum consists in closed-door sessions, conducted under Chatham House rule and designed to allow in-depth interactive exchange of ideas between participants
This Forum, co-organized with NATO’s Policy Planning Unit and Middle East and North Africa Section, aims at providing answers to the broader question of how NATO can strengthen its contribution to stabilization and resilience, particularly in the broader Mediterranean region.
The discussion is timely, given how drastically the security environment has changed since the last edition of the MED Dialogues, and the last shared opportunity to discuss the NATO Strategic Concept. The Alliance now has a new Strategic Concept, which defines clearly the security challenges it faces, and which outlines the political and military tasks that NATO will carry out to address them.
