In the wider Mediterranean region, digitalisation is transforming regional economies, providing opportunities for growth, diversification, and the relaunch of both industry and trade. Data centres are the core critical infrastructure of the digital era and crucial drivers of the region’s ambitions to emerge as global digital hubs. In the context of growing instability in the region, and major geopolitical shifts, storing, managing, and processing data are becoming major concerns of regional countries and a key dimension of their foreign policies, as both drivers of cooperation and competition.
This Forum aims to discuss the main implications of the rising attractiveness of cloud solutions in the region, including their impact on economic and social growth, as well as geopolitical, technological, financial, and regulatory challenges, and the potential threats to digital sovereignty. The event will gather experts, representatives from the private sector, IT companies, government authorities, and international organisations.
