Paolo Magri is the Executive Vice President of the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) and Professor of International Relations at Bocconi University. He is a member of the Strategic Committee of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, of the Europe Policy Group of the World Economic Forum (Davos) and of the Board of Directors of the Italy-China Foundation. He is also a member of the Scientific Committees of the Elcano Royal Institute, the Center of Excellence for Stability Police Units (CoESPU) and of the Military Center for Strategic Studies (Ce.Mi.S.S.). He is a regular speaker, writer, and commentator to various media outlets on global issues, US foreign policy, Iran, and Middle East. Previously, he served as Programme Director to the UN Secretariat in New York and, up to 2005, as Director of International Affairs at Bocconi University in Milan.

Tito Boeri is full professor of economics at Bocconi University. He was Centennial Professor at the London School of Economics, where he is currently Senior Visiting Professor. After obtaining his Ph.D. in Economics from New York University, he was senior economist at the OECD from 1987 to 1996. He was also consultant to the IMF, the World Bank, The European Commission, the ILO, and the Italian Government. From 2015 to 2019, he was President of the Italian Social Security administration. He is Scientific Advisor of the Ing. Rodolfo Debenedetti Foundation and he is research fellow at CEPR, CEP-LSE, IZA, Netspar and Igier-Bocconi. He is the founder of the economic policy watchdog website www.lavoce.info, in the editorial board of www.voxeu.org, and the Scientific Director of the Festival of Economics in Trento.

James G. McGann is a Senior Lecturer of International Studies at the Lauder Institute, Director of the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program and a Senior Fellow at the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to assuming his current post, Dr. McGann was Assistant Director of the International Relations Program at the University of Pennsylvania. He has also worked as a consultant and advisor for many organisations such as the World Bank; the United Nations; the Asian Development Bank and several others. Dr. McGann earned his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He was a National Fellow at Stanford University while writing his doctoral thesis, which examined the nature and evolution of public policy research organizations in the United States such as Brookings Institution, Heritage Foundation, RAND, Urban Institute amongst others.

Sigmar Gabriel is chairman of Atlantik-Brücke and a Senior Fellow at CES. In fall 2018, he served as a John F. Kennedy Memorial Policy Fellow at CES. Gabriel brings a wealth of experience at the local, federal and international level. He assumed several leading posts in the German government, most recently as Minister for Foreign Affairs (2017-2018) and Vice-Chancellor of Germany (2013-2018). Prior to that he was Germany’s Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy (2013-2017) and Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (2005-2009). Gabriel was one of the longest serving leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) from 2009 to 2017.

Carl Bildt has been Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden since 2006. From 1991 until 1994, Mr. Bildt served as Sweden’s Prime Minister. Prior to that, he was a Special Adviser for coordination functions in the Swedish Government (1976 – 1978). Mr. Bildt was also the Chair of the International Democratic Union (1992 – 1999). He was very active in resolving the conflict in the Balkans, serving as a Co-Chair of the Dayton Peace Talks on Former Yugoslavia (1995) and a High Representative of the International Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina for reconstruction and the peace implementation process (1996 – 1997).) Mr. Bildt was the first Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Balkans (1999 – 2001). Bildt was previously a member of the Council for the Future of Europe.

Mr. Rudd served as Australia’s 26th Prime Minister from 2007 to 2010, then as Foreign Minister from 2010 to 2012, before returning to the Prime Ministership in 2013. As Prime Minister, Mr. Rudd led Australia’s response during the Global Financial Crisis. Australia’s fiscal response to the crisis was reviewed by the IMF as the most effective stimulus strategy of all member states. Australia was the only major advanced economy not to go into recession. Mr. Rudd is also internationally recognized as one of the founders of the G20 which drove the global response to the crisis, and which in 2009 helped prevent the crisis from spiraling into a second global depression. As Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mr. Rudd was active in global and regional foreign policy leadership. He was a driving force in expanding the East Asia Summit to include both the US and Russia in 2010. Mr. Rudd remains engaged in a range of international challenges including global economic management, the rise of China, climate change and sustainable development. He is on the International Advisory Panel of Chatham House. He is a proficient speaker of Mandarin Chinese, a Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University and funded the establishment of the Australian Centre on China in the World at the Australian National University. He was a co-author of the recent report of the UN Secretary General’s High Level Panel on Global Sustainability – “Resilient People, Resilient Planet” and chairs the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Fragile States. He also remains actively engaged in indigenous reconciliation. 

Dr. Kalibata is the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the 2021 Food Systems Summit. She is the president of Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) since September 2014. Prior to joining AGRA, Dr. Kalibata was Rwanda’s Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) from 2008 to 2014. Dr. Kalibata sits on various boards, councils and commissions including the Global Commission on Adaptation, the Global Agenda Council of the World Economic Forum, the Malabo-Montpellier Panel, the Food and Land Use (FOLU) Coalition, the Architecture for REDD + Transactions (ART), the International Fertilizer Development Corporation (IFDC), Biodiversity International, and Africa Risk Capacity, among others. She has a distinguished record of accomplishment as an agricultural scientist and policy maker. She was awarded the Yara Prize, now the Africa Food Prize, in 2012, Honorary Doctorate from the University of Liège in 2018, and the National Academy of Sciences’ Public Welfare Medal in 2019. She holds a doctorate in Entomology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Testori Coggi is Special Advisor of the Italian Technological Cluster of Life Sciences Alisei. She has done her career within the European Commission where she has been Director General for Health and Consumer until 2014: among her achievements, the new legislation on cross-border healthcare and serious cross-border threats to health, the promotion of health as an investment for growth, the creation of the European Food Safety Authority. After having returned to Italy, she has been President of the Price and Reimbursement Committee of the Italian Medicines Agency until September 2018. She teaches EU Health policy at the Master Studies of the European College of Parma. Testori Coggi is a biologist with a Master degree in Ecotoxicology; she received a Doctor Honoris Causa in Veterinary Medicine and she was awarded the Cross of Merit of Official of the Italian Republic.

Professor Smita Srinivas is the India Lead for the 4-country Innovation for Cancer Care project and holds appointments with the Economics Department and Development Policy group at the Open University, UK, and at the National Centre for Biological Sciences-Tata
Institute of Fundamental Research (NCBS-TIFR), India. She is an Honorary Professor at the Department of Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Public Policy at University College London. Prof. Srinivas is the 2021 AFEE Clarence E. Ayres Scholar (institutional
economics) and the 2015 EAEPE biennial Myrdal Prize awardee (evolutionary economics/political
economy) for the monograph Market Menagerie: Health and Development in Late Industrial States
(Stanford University Press, 2012). She has over two decades of policy engagements and research on technological change, industry dynamics, and the microeconomics of innovation. She received a PhD from MIT in economic development and planning with a
focus on microeconomics, and prior training in maths and physics. She has held full-time faculty,
senior Fellow or Visiting appointments at the LSE, Columbia University, Harvard University, IISc, and
think tanks such as ICRIER and CTIER.She is a frequent keynote speaker and grants awardee.

Giampiero Massolo is the President of Mundys since 2022. He has been President of Atlantia since 29 April 2022 and President of ISPI since 2017. Ambassador Massolo, a career diplomat, has served as Director-General of the Department of Information for Security under the Prime Minister’s office (2012-16), as Sherpa for the G8 and G20 of the PM (2008-09), and as Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-12). He lectures on national security issues at the School of Government of LUISS University in Rome and writes for La Stampa and La Repubblica on international and security matters.    

Carlos Javier Regazzoni is Director of the Human Security and Global Health Committee Of the Argentine Council for International Relations, as well as a MD and politician. Regazzoni joined the City of Buenos Aires as deputy minister in the Ministry of Social Development and was later appointed as CEO of the city health-care system for public servants in the city of Buenos Aires. From 2011 to 2015, he was the undersecretary of economic and financial management and resource management of the Ministry of Education of the City of Buenos Aires. He is also the former chief executive director of the National Institute of Social Services for Retirees and Pensioners, the largest state-owned medical insurance agency in Latin America for retired people, reporting directly to the president of the country. He is currently an independent consultant in public health and pharmaceuticals public policies. In 2017, he was elected city counselor in one of the largest municipalities in Argentina. He has earned several awards because of his investigations on sustainable health care for old age and on the impact of university education on the workforce. Regazzoni is author of two books on public health and education and editor of other four on health and public administration. He was an Argentine Eisenhower fellow and was in the Latin America Development Leadership Program at Harvard Kennedy School. After graduating as a doctor in 1992, Regazzoni earned a biostatistics diploma and a PhD in biomedical sciences from the University of Buenos Aires, and a diploma in philosophy from Austral University.

Rose Ngugi is the Executive Director of the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) and serves as the Secretary to the Board. She is involved in providing technical guidance and capacity building on policy and strategy formulation to the Government of Kenya and other stakeholders, with the overall aim of contributing to the achievement of national development goals. Before then, she was a Senior Advisor in the Office of Executive Director, Africa Group 1, International Monetary Fund, and Washington D.C. Dr. Ngugi has been a member of Central Bank of Kenya, Monetary Policy Committee and has vast teaching experience in the University of Nairobi, School of Economics. Dr Ngugi has published widely. Her research interests are in public policy, financial sector, investments, reforms and institutional issues. She holds a PhD from Business School Birmingham University, UK specializing in Financial Markets, a Masters and Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.

WANG Dong obtained his PhD in Politics at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is now associate professor and doctoral supervisor at School of International Studies, Executive Director of Institute for Global Cooperation and Understanding and Vice President of Office of Humanities and Social Sciences and Deputy Secretary-General of American Studies Center (National and Regional Research Base of the Ministry of Education) of Peking University. In addition, he is also the Secretary-General of the Academic Committee of the Pangoal Institution, member of the Steering Committee of East Asia Security Forum of Western Returned Scholars Association, member of the Advisory Committee of Global Times-The Cater Center “Forum for Young Chinese and American Scholars” and a researcher of Peace in East Asia Program of Department of Peace and Conflict Research of Uppsala University, Sweden. WANG has led research projects such as major programs of National Social Science Fund of China, undertaken major projects of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Science and Technology, and been funded by National Social Science Fund of China for many times. He was shortlisted for “Munich Young Leader” in 2016 and Beijing “Outstanding Young Scientist” plan (topped the category of humanities & social sciences) in 2018. He is interested in researches on international relations theory, the Cold War, US diplomacy, China-US relations, etc.

Emma Bonino is an Italian Senator elected in the last political competition with More Europe. She served as the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs between 2013 and 2014. From 2008 to 2013 she served as Vice-Chair of the Italian Senate. She has been Minister for International Trade and European Affairs. First elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies in 1976, she has served either in the Italian or in the European Parliament continuously since then, except when she was European Commissioner, between 1994 and 1999. During this period she confronted man-made crises, including the Balkans and the Great Lakes region. She is a member of the Board of Trustees at the International Crisis Group (ICR). She is also co-chair of the council of Foreign Relations (ECFR), an active Member of the Radical Party.

Elena Sánchez-Montijano is a Research Professor at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE, Mexico). She holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF, Barcelona) and a Masters in International Cooperation and Development from the University of Granada. Previously, she was a senior researcher at CIDOB and an associate researcher at the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Immigration (GRITIM) at UPF. Her main areas of interest are migrant integration policies, migration regimes and transnational relations of foreigners with their countries of origin.rnrnHas been the scientific coordinator of the SAHWA project (Researching Arab Mediterranean Youth: Towards a New Social Contract) funded by the Seventh Framework Program of the European Commission. In addition, she was co-director of the Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX) project, which assessed and compared what governments are doing to promote the integration of migrants in 42 countries. She also participates as a researcher in many European projects, among others, such as the FEUTURE project (analyzing EU-Turkey relations on migration) and the CEASEVAL project (conducting an evaluation of the Common European Asylum System), both funded by the Horizon2020 Program of the European Commission; or the NIEM project, analyzing refugee policies, and the country coordinator for Spain, funded by the European Commission through public calls. rnrnShe has been a visiting researcher at the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS), University of Oxford, in 2010, at the Center for Ethnic and Migration Studies(CEDEM), Université de Liège, in 2012, and at the Research and Expertise Centre for Survey Methodology (RECSM), Universitat Pompeu Fabra, in 2019.

Dr. La Toya Waha has been responsible for migration and displacement in the Social Cohesion Department (AuB) since January 2021. From 2019 to 2020 she worked in the regional program Political Dialogue Asia in Singapore on transnational security aspects, multilateral cooperation and the regional integration of South and Southeast Asia. She received her PhD in political science from Heidelberg University in 2018. Her dissertation deals with the influence of religion on political action and violence in the context of state formation using the example of radical Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka. Before joining the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, she worked on a political advisory research project on the connection between migration, religion and radicalization at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence (IKG) at Bielefeld University. Among other things, she was a visiting researcher at the Center d’Études de l’Inde et de l’Asie du Sud (CEIAS) in Paris and at the Social Policy Analysis and Research Center (SPARC) of the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka

Youssef Chahed is a Tunisian politician who served as the 14th Prime Minister of Tunisia from 27 August 2016 to 27 February 2020. Previously he was Secretary of State for Fishing from 2015 to 2016 and Minister of Local Affairs in 2016. He was a member of the Nidaa Tounes party until he formed Tahya Tounes. Since 2007, the English Wikipedia page of Youssef Chahed has received more than 183,988 page views. Her biography is available in 20 different languages on Wikipedia (up from 17 in 2019). Youssef Chahed is the 14,256th most popular politician (down from 12,756th in 2019), the 97th most popular biography from Tunisia and the 48th most popular Tunisian Politician. 

Vivien Foster is the Chief Economist for the Infrastructure Vice-Presidency of the World Bank; which covers the areas of Digital Development, Energy & Extractives, Transport and Infrastructure Finance. During her 20 years at the World Bank she has played a variety of leadership roles, including: Global Lead for Energy Economics, Markets and Institutions (2016-18); Practice Manager of the Global Energy Anchor (2012-16); and Lead Economist for Infrastructure in the Africa Region (2006-11). Throughout, her focus has been on the intersection between network infrastructures and economic policy. She has contributed to client dialogue, as well as advisory and lending engagements, in more than 30 countries across Africa, Latin America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Vivien has spearheaded several major policy research initiatives including: Water, Electricity and the Poor (2005), examining the distributional impact of utility subsidies; Africa’s Infrastructure (2009), a path-breaking analysis of the continent’s network infrastructure challenges; Building Bridges (2009), detailing China’s growing role as infrastructure financier for Africa and many others. Prior to joining the World Bank, Vivien worked as a Managing Consultant of Oxford Economic Research Associates Ltd in the UK, advising private and public sector clients in the water and energy industries, both in Europe and Latin America, with focus on the economic regulation of utilities.

José Luis Chicoma is the Minister of Production of Peru. He previously served as executive director of Ethos Public Policy Lab, a Mexican think tank that promotes development and sustainable food systems. He was the editor and coordinator of the publication “Transforming our food systems: Inspirational stories and proposals” and has served as a core member of the Tortilla Alliance, the Mexican AgTech network, as well as other coalitions that advocate for sustainable and healthy food systems. He also frequently writes and speaks internationally about the intersection of food and politics.He previously held several high-level positions in the Peruvian government, including serving as Vice Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and Industries and Director of Export Promotion for PROMPERU. The country’s prestigious Semana Económica weekly named him one of the 25 people under age 45 likely to change the Peruvian economy. He has lectured in various universities and contributes to Latin American magazines and newspapers such as Letras Libres, PODER, América Economía and Animal Político.

Ettore Greco is Executive Vice President of the IAI and also Head of the Multilateralism and global governance programme of the institute. He was also Director of the IAI from 2008 to 2017. He worked as visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution from January 2006 to July 2007. He taught at the universities of Parma and Bologna. From 2000 to 2006 he worked as correspondent for the Economist Intelligence Unit. From 1993 to 2000 he directed the IAI’s program on Central and Eastern Europe. He was also Deputy Director of the IAI from 1997 to 2008. From 2000 to 2006 he was Editor of The International Spectator. He is the author of a number of publications on the EU’s institutions and foreign policy, transatlantic relations and the Balkans. He has been a free-lance journalist since 1988.

Luiz de Mello is Director of the Policy Studies Branch in the Economics Department of the OECD. Together with the policy studies teams, Mr. de Mello provides leadership and strategic direction within the economics department, ensuring the design and implementation of analysis and policies which promote stronger, cleaner, fairer and more inclusive economic growth for member and partner countries. Structural policy surveillance, short and long term economic outlooks, public finance and macroeconomic policy analysis are among the key workstreams for policy studies.

Earlier in his career, Mr. de Mello held senior positions at the OECD, including Deputy-Director of the Public Governance Directorate and Chief of Staff and Counsellor to the Chief Economist. Prior to joining the OECD, he worked as a Senior Economist at the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund, and as a Lecturer at the Economics Department of the University of Kent, United Kingdom. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Kent, United Kingdom.

Jun Arima is a Professor at the Graduate School of Public Policy, University of Tokyo. He has been a Counselor at the Japanese Delegation to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and Head of the Country Studies Division at the International Energy Agency. He participated in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) negotiation as a chief negotiator.

Bob Perciasepe is President of the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES), which is widely recognized in the United States and internationally as a leading, independent voice for practical policy and action to address our energy and climate challenges. Mr. Perciasepe has been an environmental policy leader in and outside government for more than 40 years, most recently as Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He is a respected expert on environmental stewardship, natural resource management, and public policy, and has built a reputation for bringing stakeholders together to solve issues. While Mr. Perciasepe served as Deputy Administrator from 2009 to 2014, EPA set stricter auto emissions and mileage standards, increased protections for the nation’s streams and rivers, and developed carbon emissions standards for power plants. Mr. Perciasepe was previously assistant administrator for both the agency’s water and clean air programs, leading efforts to improve the safety of America’s drinking water and development of a new infrastructure revolving fund for drinking water. He also led efforts to lower sulfur levels in gasoline and diesel fuel to reduce smog. In 2002, Mr. Perciasepe joined the National Audubon Society, one of the nation’s oldest conservation organizations, as its senior vice president for public policy. He served as the group’s chief operating officer from 2004 to 2009, and worked to protect wetlands and expand environmental education, especially in urban areas.

Francesco Profumo has been Chair of FCSP since May 2016. He was Minister of Education, Universities and Research from November 2011 to April 2013 and Chair of the National Research Council (CNR) from August 2011 to January 2012. In 2003, Francesco Profumo became Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin, and then served as Chancellor of the same university between 2005 and 2011. He is currently a Full Professor of Electrical Drives and Machinery at the Polytechnic University of Turin, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Bologna. From 1978 to 1984, Francesco Profumo worked as a Design Engineer the Ansaldo Research & Development Centre in Genoa. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Telecom, Pirelli, UniCredit Private Banca and Il Sole 24 Ore, and Chair of IREN Group until May 2016. Francesco Profumo is currently Chair of Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Chair of Fondazione ESMI ESCP Europe/Turin Campus, Chair of CDI Italia, Collège des Ingénieurs Italia, a member of the Board of Directors of Fondazione Agnelli, and a member of the Scientific Council of the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT). He has won a number of awards, including the Golden Lion in Turin in 2008, the Valdo Fusi Prize in 2011 and the Guido Carli Prize, also in 2011.

PhD in Economics from Fundação Getulio Vargas, in Rio de Janeiro (2001), she was director of the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL), between 2005 and 2009. Visiting professor at Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, in 2010, and professor at Fundação Getulio Vargas, in Rio de Janeiro. She has experience in Economics, working mainly in the following areas: Regulatory Economics, Energy Economics, Auctions, Experimental Economics, Organizational Theory and Contracts. She has been director of the Infrastructure Regulation Center (FGV CERI) since 2010.

Naoyuki Yoshino is Dean of the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) and Professor Emeritus at Keio University, Tokyo, Japan. He obtained his PhD from Johns Hopkins University (United States) in 1979 where his thesis supervisor was Sir Alan Walters, economic adviser to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Naoyuki has been a visiting scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (United States) and a visiting professor at various universities including the University of New South Wales (Australia), Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques (France), and University of Gothenburg (Sweden). He has also been an assistant professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo and an economics professor at Keio University. He was named Director of the Japan Financial Services Agency’s (FSA) Financial Research Center (FSA Institute) in 2004 and is now Chief Advisor. He was appointed as Chair of the Financial Planning Standards Board in 2007. He has served as Chairperson of the Japanese Ministry of Finance’s Council on Foreign Exchange as well as its Fiscal System Council (Fiscal Investment and Loan Program Section). He was nominated for inclusion in Who’s Who in the World for 2009 and 2013, and was named one of the Top 100 Educators in 2009. He obtained honorary doctorates from the University of Gothenburg (Sweden) in 2004 and Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (Germany) in 2013. He also received the Fukuzawa Award in 2013 for his contribution to research on economic policy. 

John R. Allen assumed the presidency of the Brookings Institution in November 2017, having served as chair of security and strategy and a distinguished fellow in the Foreign Policy Program. Allen is a retired U.S. Marine Corps four-star general and former commander of the NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and U.S. Forces in Afghanistan. Allen served in senior diplomatic roles following his retirement from the Marine Corps., as Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Defense on Middle East Security, during which he led the security dialogue for the Israeli/Palestinian peace process. President Barack Obama appointed Allen as special presidential envoy to the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL. Allen’s diplomatic efforts grew the coalition to 65 members, effectively halting the expansion of ISIL.

A respected child rights activist, Inger has been associated with Save the Children for more than 25 years, first serving as a youth advocate and later on the Boards of Save the Children Sweden and Save the Children International. Prior to her appointment in September 2019, Inger was Director General at the Swedish Agency against Segregation, a Swedish government agency, where she worked to reduce segregation and social inequality, with a special focus on improving the situation in socio-economically disadvantaged areas. She has also served as the National Coordinator for Youth Not in Education or Employment for the Swedish Government, Deputy Director General of the Swedish Agency for Youth and Civil Society and the CEO of the Global Child Forum. Inger is also a member of the Ethics Council at The Swedish Migration Agency. She has been an expert to and board member of several authorities and committees such as the Delegation for Human Rights, the Swedish National Knowledge Centre on Violence against Children, the Delegation for the Employment of Young People and Newly Arrived Migrants, the Swedish Enforcement Authority, the National Board of Institutional Care, and the Monitoring Committee for The European Social Fund. 

Lawrence H. Summers is the Charles W. Eliot University Professor and President Emeritus of Harvard University. During the past two decades, he has served in a series of senior policy positions in Washington, D.C., including the 71st Secretary of the Treasury for President Clinton, Director of the National Economic Council for President Obama and Vice President of Development Economics and Chief Economist of the World Bank. He received a bachelor of science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1975 and was awarded a Ph.D. from Harvard in 1982. In 1983, he became one of the youngest individuals in recent history to be named as a tenured member of the Harvard University faculty. In 1987, Mr. Summers became the first social scientist ever to receive the annual Alan T. Waterman Award of the National Science Foundation (NSF), and in 1993 he was awarded the John Bates Clark Medal, given every two years to the outstanding American economist under the age of 40. He is currently the Charles W. Eliot University Professor at Harvard University and the Weil Director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business & Government at Harvard’s Kennedy School. He and his wife Elisa New, a professor of English at Harvard, reside in Brookline and have six children. 

Director of the Education Programme at the Centre for the Implementation of Public Policies promoting Equity and Growth (CIPPEC) in Argentina. Since 2018, Cardini has been Task Force Co-chair at the Think20, leading the education policy agenda in different Task Forces. She worked for many years as a researcher and as Minister advisor for Argentina’s National Ministry of Education. Cardini holds a PhD in Education from the University of San Andres (Argentina) and the Institute of Education, University of London (United Kingdom).

Dr. Cinzia Alcidi is Director of Research, Head of the Economic Policy Unit at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels and LUISS- School of European Political Economy- research fellow. Since November 2019 she is also the acting Head of the Jobs and Skills unit. Prior to joining CEPS, she worked at International Labour Office in Geneva and she taught International Economics at University of Perugia (Italy). Her research activity includes international economics, macroeconomics, central banking and EU governance. Since 2015 she is the coordinator of CEPS Academy Activities. She has experience in coordinating research projects and networks. She has published extensively on the economics and governance of the Euro area crisis and participates regularly in international conferences. She holds a Ph.D. degree in International Economics from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva (Switzerland).

Stefano Manservisi, a lawyer by training (Universities of Bologna and Paris I), has been working with the European Union for more than 35 years. He has occupied different functions in the administration and as a top political advisor in several policy areas. Head of Cabinet to Mario Monti (Commissioner for Internal Market, taxation, customs and competition), to Romano Prodi (President of the European Commission) and lastly to Federica Mogherini (High Representative for Foreign Policy/Vice President of the Commission). Director-General for Development and political relations with Africa, Caribbean and Pacific, then Director-General for Migration and Home affairs and finally EU Ambassador to Turkey. His last position has been Director-General for International Cooperation and Development.

At present, Manservisi lectures in universities (Sciences-Po/Paris School for International Affairs, European University Institute), he is distinguished Fellow in various think tanks and advises several UN specialised agencies. Stefano Manservisi has been recently appointed Special Advisor to Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni.

Homi Kharas is a senior fellow in the Center for Sustainable Development, housed in the Global Economy and Development program at Brookings. In that capacity, he studies policies and trends influencing developing countries, including aid to poor countries, the emergence of the middle class, and global governance and the G-20. He previously served as interim vice president and director of the Global Economy and Development program. He has served as the lead author and executive secretary of the secretariat supporting the High Level Panel, co-chaired by President Sirleaf, President Yudhoyono and Prime Minister Cameron, advising the U.N. Secretary General on the post-2015 development agenda (2012-2013). The report, “A New Global Partnership: Eradicate Poverty and Transform Economies through Sustainable Development,” was presented on May 30, 2013. Karuti Kanyinga Research Professor of Development Studies at the Institute for Developent Studies (IDS), University of Nairobi.  He is an accomplished development researcher and scholar with extensive national and international experience. He has published extensively and is renowned for his contributions to scholarship and knowledge in governance and development. Karuti’s research and publications include seminal work on: ethnicity and development; devolution and development; and electoral politics and development. Ambassador Moushira Mahmoud Khattab, Ph.D is an Egyptian human rights activist, former politician & diplomat. She is the former Minister of Family & Population of Egypt, Former Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of Egypt to the Republic of South Africa, the Czech Republic and Slovakia as well serving in Egypt’s diplomatic missions in Australia, Hungary, Austria and the United Nations (New York and Vienna). She is also a human rights activist advocating the rights of children and women and the former Chair of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child based at the UN Headquarters in Geneva. 

Maria Chiara Carrozza received the M.Sc. degree in physics from University of Pisa, Italy, in 1990, and the Ph.D. degree in engineering from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, in 1994.

She was a Rector with Biomedical Engineering and Robotics, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna from 2007 to 2013.

In 2013 through 2014 she was the Italian Minister for University, Education and Research.

She is currently a Full Professor with Biomedical Engineering and Robotics, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, and Scientific Director of Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi, a network of Research Hospitals dedicated to Rehabilitation Medicine. Her research interests are in wearable robotics and rehabilitation engineering.

Robert (Bob) Fay is the managing director of digital economy at CIGI. The research under his direction assesses and provides policy recommendations for the complex global governance issues arising from digital technologies. He brings to this position extensive experience in macro- and micro-economic research and policy analysis. He is also a member of the 2020–2021 Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) Ad Hoc Strategic Advisory Committee, providing feedback on the priorities the IPC will focus on over the next five years. Prior to joining CIGI, Bob held several senior roles at the Bank of Canada (BoC), most recently as senior director overseeing work to assess developments and implications arising from the digitization of the Canadian economy. As deputy director of the International Department at the BoC, he assessed global economic developments and their implications for Canada and investigated a wide variety of issues, including those related to the international monetary system and global financial architecture. He has also led the BoC’s Canadian short-term forecasting team and set up and led its first research division related to structural analysis, focusing on labour markets, productivity and exchange rate analysis. Bob was also special assistant to BoC Governor Mark Carney, serving as the governor’s chief of staff. Prior to joining the BoC, Bob was an economist at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and worked on a range of economic and labour market issues. Bob holds an M.A. in economics from Queen’s University and an undergraduate degree in applied studies (economics) from the University of Waterloo.

Samir Saran is the President of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), India’s premier think tank, headquartered in New Delhi. His research focuses on issues of global governance, climate change and energy policy, technology and media, and India’s foreign policy.  

Samir completed his doctoral studies at the Global Sustainability Institute, UK. He holds a Masters degree in Media Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK, and a Bachelors in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, India.  

As ORF’s President and member of the Foundation’s Board, he provides strategic direction and leadership to the foundation’s multiple centres on fundraising, research projects, platform design and outreach initiatives including stakeholder engagement.  

He curates the Raisina Dialogue, India’s annual flagship platform on geopolitics and geo-economics, and is the founder of CyFy, India’s annual conference on cybersecurity and internet governance. He spearheads the foundation’s efforts to foster new international partnerships and incubate young leaders networks and youth led conversations globally.  

Samir is a member of the India-CEO Climate Action Group, Global Risks Advisory Board, and the Regional Action Group of the World Economic Forum (WEF). He has served as a Commissioner of The Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace. He is a member of the Board of Directors at ORF America.  

Samir has authored four books, edited important journals and publications and written several academic papers and book chapters. He is featured regularly in Indian and international print and broadcast media. His latest publications include The New World Disorder and The Indian Imperative with Shashi Tharoor and Pax Sinica: Implications for the Indian Dawn with Akhil Deo. 

Alicia Bárcena assumed office as the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in 2008. She had previously served as the Under-Secretary-General for Management at United Nations Headquarters in New York, Chef de Cabinet and Deputy Chef de Cabinet to the former Secretary-General, Mr. Kofi Annan. Alicia Bárcena was the Founding Director of the Earth Council in Costa Rica, a non-governmental organization in charge of follow-up to the agreements reached at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992. Alicia Bárcena holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and holds a Master degree in Public Administration from Harvard University. She has completed the courses for a degree of Master in Ecology, and has initiated studies for a PhD degree in Economics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She has published numerous articles on sustainable development, public policy, environmental issues, and public participation.

Franco Brun is President of ISPI and Co-Head of the Observatory on Europe and Global Governance. He is Emeritus Professor at the Department of Economics of Bocconi University, where he was Full Professor of International Monetary Theory and Policy and Member of the University’s Board of Directors. He studied at Bocconi University and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At Bocconi, he is a Fellow of the Institute for European Policymaking. He is an Honorary Member of the Société Universitaire Européenne de Recherches Financières (Suerf), which he chaired until 2000. He is the Italian Member of the European Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee. He was Vice President of the UniCredit & Universities Foundation. In the context of the Italian G20, he chaired for several years the T20 task force on international financial architecture. 

Haihong Gao is a professor at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). She fulfills the role of Direction of the Section of International Finance under the Institute of World Economics and Politics at CASS.  She specializes in academic analysis on international finance, with emphasis on international financial architecture, regional monetary integration (Asia), and China’s exchange rate policy and capital flows. She pursued both a Bachelors and Masters at Peking University in Economics. In addition, Gao Haihong graduated with an MSc in Finance and Economics from Durham University in the United Kingdom.

Luis Fernando Mejía, is an economist from Universidad de los Andes, Master in Economics from Universidad de los Andes, Master in Economics from the University of Chicago and has doctoral studies in economics at the University of Chicago. Previously, Luis Fernando was Deputy Director and then Director of Colombia’s Planning Department between 2014 and 2018. During his administration, he led the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals agenda, issued public policies on green growth and air quality, and coordinated the technical support within the government during Colombia’s successful accession process to the OECD. Luis Fernando has also been Director of Macroeconomic Policy at the Colombian Ministry of Finance, as well as a researcher at the Central Bank of Colombia and the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington. He has also taught macroeconomics at the University of Chicago and several Colombian universities. Among other distinctions, Luis Fernando was chosen as one of the 50 leaders under 40 in Colombia, received the Margaret Reid Memorial Fund Scholarship from the University of Chicago, as well as the Martin & Margaret Lee Award for the best PhD exam in macroeconomics at the same university. He is currently in the top 4% of economists with the highest number of academic citations in Latin America. 

Adam S. Posen is president of the Peterson Institute for International Economics. Under his leadership, since January 2013, the Institute has grown to 45 worldrenowned fellows and won global recognition – including being named Global Economics Think Tank of the Year by Prospect five years in a row. A monetary economist, from 2009 to 2012, Posen served as an external voting member of the Bank of England’s ratesetting Monetary Policy Committee, and he co-authored Inflation Targeting with Bernanke, Laubach, and Mishkin while at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (1994-97). His current research addresses globalization’s future amidst China-U.S. conflict, including his widely cited recent articles, “The Post–American World Economy,” “The End of Globalization?,” and “The Price of Nostalgia,” all in Foreign Affairs, and “America’s Zero-Sum Economics Doesn’t Add Up”, in Foreign Policy. 

Mr. Pier Carlo Padoan was Minister of Economy and Finance from 21 February 2014 to 1 June 2018. Mr. Padoan was Professor of Economics at the University La Sapienza of Rome, and Director of the Fondazione Italianieuropei, a policy think-tank focusing on economic and social issues. On 1 June 2007 Mr. Pier Carlo Padoan was appointed Deputy Secretary-General of the OECD. As of 1 December 2009 he was also appointed Chief Economist while retaining his role as Deputy SecretaryGeneral. In addition to heading the Economics Department, Mr. Padoan was the G20 Finance Deputy for the OECD and has also lead the Strategic Response, the Green Growth and Innovation initiatives of the Organisation.From 2001 to 2005, Mr. Padoan was the Italian Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund, with responsibility for Greece, Portugal, San Marino, Albania and Timor Leste. He served as a member of the Board and chaired a number of Board Committees. During his mandate at the IMF he was also in charge of European Coordination. From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Padoan served as Economic Adviser to the Italian Prime Ministers, Massimo D’Alema and Giuliano Amato, in charge of international economic policies. He was responsible for coordinating the Italian position in the Agenda 2000 negotiations for the EU budget, Lisbon Agenda, European Council, bilateral meetings, and G8 Summits. He has been a consultant to the World Bank, European Commission, European Central Bank.

Mehmet Sait Akman has served as academician on international trade and EU studies at Marmara University in Istanbul. He is currently a senior research fellow in Centre for Multilateral Trade Studies at Turkish Economic Policy Research Institute (TEPAV), a leading policy think-tank in Ankara, Turkey. Mr. Akman holds a PhD in Economics of the EU (Marmara University), Istanbul; LL.M degree (London School of Economics). He has been a visiting researcher at European University Institute, Florence and LSE, London. His PhD thesis is titled ‘Political Economy of Protectionism and the WTO: A Public Choice Approach to Trade Policies in the EU and the US’. He has taught extensively on European integration and international trade issues in several Universities including Marmara, Galatasaray, Ankara and Başkent. He is an adjunct professor on trade policy at Bahçeşehir University. He is an academic consultant to WTO/ITTC training activities for public officers in the CEECAC region. He has been a member of the editorial board of Journal of International Trade and Diplomacy and Uluslararası Ekonomi ve Dış Ticaret Politikaları. Akman currently serves as rapporteur to the taskforce on ‘Global Trade and Turkey in the 21st Century’ set up by Global Relations Forum (GIF).

Fukao’s current research concentrates primarily on three areas. The first is the measurement and the determinants of Japan’s total factor productivity at the macro, industry, and firm level. He is also involved in an international project on the comparison of productivity in cooperation with researchers at various overseas universities and economic ministries. In particular, he is interested in the influence of process and product innovation on productivity, the economic effects of M&As, international comparisons of service sector productivity, the determinants of plant-level productivity, such as location and intangible assets, etc. International economics constitutes the second major area in which Fukao is conducting research. Topics include Japan’s inward and outward FDI, the international division of labor in East Asia, China’s economic development, etc. He is particularly interested in differences in the factor contents of traded goods classified as that same commodity but with different unit prices, the impact of inward FDI in Japan, the sustainability of China’s growth, etc. Third, Fukao is conducting historical statistical analyses on prices, trade, and regional economies. This includes, for example, the measurement of real wages from the middle ages until the present, prefectural GDP estimates from the early Meiji period onward, etc.

Mari Pangestu is the World Bank Managing Director of Development Policy and Partnerships. In this role, which she assumed on March 1, 2020, Ms. Pangestu provides leadership and oversees the research and data group of the World Bank (DEC), the work program of the World Bank’s Global Practice Groups, and the External and Corporate Relations function. Ms. Pangestu joins the Bank with exceptional policy and management expertise, having served as Indonesia’s Minister of Trade from 2004 to 2011 and as Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy from 2011 to 2014. She has had vast experience of over 30 years in academia, second track processes, international organizations and government working in areas related to international trade, investment and development in multilateral, regional and national settings. Most recently, Ms. Pangestu was a Senior Fellow at the Columbia School of International and Public Affairs, as well as Professor of International Economics at the University of Indonesia, adjunct professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University and a Board Member of Indonesia Bureau of Economic Research (IBER), as well as Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Jakarta.

Ambassador Mattiolo has been working as a diplomat since 1981. Born in Rome in 1957, he graduated in Political Science at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1980. He began his diplomatic career shortly afterwards, working initially at the General Directorate for Emigration and Social Affairs. From 1982 to 1986 he was in Moscow as Second Secretary of the Embassy, from 1986 to 1988 as First Secretary in Bern, the same position held in Belgrade from 1988 to 1991 when he was confirmed in the then former Yugoslavia as Legation Counsellor. In 1992 he returned to Rome to work at the General Directorate of Personnel. From 1993 to 1995 he was employed by the Office of the Diplomatic Advisor of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. From 1997 to 2001 he was first Secretary and then First Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Italy to the European Union in Brussels. In 2001 he flew to New York to assume the position of First Counsellor and then Minister Plenipotentiary at the Permanent Representation of Italy to the UN. He remained there until 2004 when he returned to Rome to become European Correspondent and Coordinator of the activities related to the Common Foreign and Security Policy at the Directorate General for European Integration. Between 2005 and 2008 he was Minister at the Permanent Representation to the Atlantic Council in Brussels, a post he left to become Ambassador to Tel Aviv in 2008. In 2015, after three years in Rome as Director General for the European Union, he was appointed Ambassador to Turkey.
