Paolo Magri is the Executive Vice President of the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) and Professor of International Relations at Bocconi University. He is a member of the Strategic Committee of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, of the Europe Policy Group of the World Economic Forum (Davos) and of the Board of Directors of the Italy-China Foundation. He is also a member of the Scientific Committees of the Elcano Royal Institute, the Center of Excellence for Stability Police Units (CoESPU) and of the Military Center for Strategic Studies (Ce.Mi.S.S.). He is a regular speaker, writer, and commentator to various media outlets on global issues, US foreign policy, Iran, and Middle East. Previously, he served as Programme Director to the UN Secretariat in New York and, up to 2005, as Director of International Affairs at Bocconi University in Milan.

Since June 2019, Fabio Pompei is the CEO of Deloitte Central Mediterranean. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of Deloitte North-South Europe.

He has been a member of Deloitte Global Board, Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte & Touche S.p.A. and a member of the Executive Committee of Deloitte Central Mediterranean. He has been also Talent Leader for Deloitte Italia from 2011 to 2015. Fabio Pompei still holds positions as a responsible partner for the auditing of important industrial groups, with significant experiences in coordinating auditing activities on national and multinational groups operating in many sectors.

Dr. Yuko Harayama is an Executive Director charged of international affairs, promotion of early career researchers and diversity at RIKEN, Japan’s largest research organization for basic and applied science. Prior to joining RIKEN, she spent five years at the Cabinet Office of Japan, as an Executive Member of the Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (CSTI). In this capacity, she represented Japan in different international science and technology meetings, including G7 Science and Technology Ministers’ meeting. Prior to joining the CSTI, she spent two years at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as the Deputy Director of the Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry (STI) and ten years at the Graduate School of Engineering of Tohoku University as a professor of Science and Technology Policy. Through her work, she has contributed to the promotion of science and technology nationally and internationally for a long period of time.

Her experience prior to Tohoku University includes being a Fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry in Japan (RIETI) and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Economy at the University of Geneva. Ms. Harayama holds a Ph.D. in Education Sciences and a Ph.D. in Economics both from the University of Geneva. Her areas of expertise are Science, Technology and Innovation Policy and Higher Education studies.

She is a Legion D’Honneur recipient (Chevalier) and was awarded honorary doctorate from the University of Neuchâtel.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres announced on 20 December 2018 the appointment of Maria-Francesca Spatolisano of Italy as Assistant Secretary-General for Policy Coordination and Inter-Agency Affairs in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs.  She will succeed Thomas Gass of Switzerland, to whom the Secretary-General and the Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs are grateful for his commitment and dedicated service to the Organization. Ms. Spatolisano has 33 years of experience in public service including extensive senior leadership in multilateral affairs. She has served as the European Union Ambassador to the OECD and UNESCO, Monaco and Andorra. She was a member of the EU Delegation to the United Nations, serving as the Head of its Economic and Trade Section. She covered all issues related to trade, development and environmental policies in the Second Committee and ECOSOC and was also the EC representative to the Fifth Committee. Since 2017, she has been responsible for International Organizations and Development Dialogue with other Donors in the Commission’s Directorate General for Development Cooperation. In this capacity, she has assured the EU presence and developed EU positions on development policy in a number of international fora including the United Nations, the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, OECD, G-7 and the G-20, where she represented the EU in the G-20 Development Working Group. Ms. Spatolisano holds a Doctorate in Law (cum laude) from Florence University and is fluent in Italian, English and French. She is married with two children.

Roberto Viola is Director General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (CNECT) at the European Commission. Prior to that, he was Deputy Director-General at the Directorate General Communications Networks, Content and Technology (CNECT) from 2012 until 2015.

Before joining the European Institutions, he was Secretary General at AGCOM, the Italian Regulatory Authority for electronic communication, postal, audio-visual and media services.

He worked at European Space Agency (ESA) between 1986 and 1999, and he was Head of the Telecommunication and broadcasting satellite systems section in the Satellite Telecommunication Programmes Directorate (1993-1999).

Mr. Viola has an MBA in Business Administration, OU Business School Milton Keynes – UK, and he holds a Doctor degree (cum laude) in Electronic engineering at the University of Rome la Sapienza, Italy.

Catherine Adeya serves as the Director of Research at the World Wide Web Foundation. She is responsible for coordinating a research team dedicated to interrogating and understanding the most important barriers to achieving our vision of a web that is safe and empowering for everyone. This includes ensuring that the challenge of getting the unconnected half of the world online (SDG 9c) central to global policy debates, developing the evidence that women and girls have a different experience online, and helping the research function to be able to respond to a changing external context.

Dr Adeya is an experienced leader, researcher, and advocate with over 20 years working in technology and development with rich experience across academia, civil society, government, and the private sector. Most recently, she led the development of the East Africa Centre for Internet Governance and Policy (CIGAP) at the renowned Strathmore University in Nairobi. She has also served as the Director of Business Process Outsourcing at the Ministry of ICT in Kenya. In 2013, she was appointed the founder CEO of the Konza Technopolis Development Authority.

Catherine began her career as a Research Fellow at the United Nations University’s Institute for New Technologies in Maastricht, The Netherlands. Driven by a commitment to tackling global inequality, she moved back to Africa due to her belief that the web and digital technologies must be used to expand opportunities and drive development. She has pursued this mission within the public, private, and civil society sectors as well as at international organizations. A graduate of the pioneering class of Information Sciences at Moi University in Kenya; she also holds a PhD in Information and Development from Edinburgh, Scotland.

David Jensen is the coordinator of the Digital Transformation subrogramme at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). In this capacity, he is responsible for helping to accelerate UNEP’s work on climate stability, nature protection and pollution prevention using data and digital technologies. He is also currently serving as UNEP’s focal point in the Coalition for Digital Environmental Sustainability (CODES) within the Secretary General’s Roadmap for Digital Cooperation. He has been one of the key drivers behind the CODES Action Plan for a Sustainable Planet in the Digital Age. David has been advising the UN Science Policy Business Forum on digitalizing sustainability since 2018 and was the co-author of a discussion paper entitled The Case for a Digital Ecosystem for the Environment. Within the digital space, David has co-founded numerous digital platforms including CODES, STRATA, MapX, Earthschool, AI for the Planet, the UN Biodiversity Lab, and the Environmental Peacebuilding Platform.

Prior to his work on digital transformation, David was the Head of Policy and Innovation at the Crisis Management Branch of UNEP. From 2009 to 2016, David was a thought leader in a new multidisciplinary field of environmental peacebuilding. This focused on the role of natural resources, environmental degradation and climate change as a conflict driver as well as an opportunity for collaboration between divided groups. David was one of the faculty members of the Massive Open Online Course on Environmental Security and Sustaining Peace – offered by the SDG Academy. David is also a founding board member of the Environmental Peacebuilding Association and has appeared on TEDx in the talk: Natural resources and peacebuilding: is the United Nations united? David holds an MSc in Biology from Oxford University (UK) and an undergraduate degree in Geography and Political Science from the University of Victoria (Canada).

Andrea Poggi is Senior Equity Partner and member of the Executive Committee for Deloitte North and Southern Europe (NSE). He leads Innovation for the NSE Deloitte Network and the Clients and Industries practice (C&I) for Deloitte Central Mediterranean area (DCM).​

He laid the foundations for the development of Monitor, strategy advisory boutique, arm of Deloitte in Italy, with a focus on Corporate and Organizational Strategy, Business Plan, Marketing and M&A. In 2018, he founded Officine Innovazione, first Deloitte’s specialized advisory firm on Innovation Management, Open Innovation and Technological Transfer Services.​

He has more than 25 years of managerial experience in Strategy Consulting and the Corporate sector, as top manager of a Tier 1 Insurance Company. During his advisory carrier, he specialized in the Financial and Insurance services sectors.​

José Siaba Serrate is a member of the Argentine Council of Foreign Relations (CARI), of the Argentine Academy of Capital Markets, and of the International Policy Institute of the Argentine Academy of Political and Moral Sciences. He is a Lecturer at Universidad de Buenos Aires and UCEMA and was awarded with the Konex Prize on Economic Analysis in 2017. He is also founder and CEO of Estudio Siaba Serrate, an economic consultancy. He regularly writes columns for Ambito Financiero, Argentina’s leading financial daily. He served as Co-Chair of the T20 International Financial Architecture Task Force under Argentina´s, Japan´s, and Saudi Arabia´s G20 Presidencies.

Pam Dixon is the founder and executive director of the World Privacy Forum, a public interest research group known and respected for its consumer and data privacy research. An author and a researcher, Dixon has written groundbreaking studies in the area of privacy, including The Scoring of America, a report on predictive analytics and privacy written with Bob Gellman. She has also written influential reports on Medical Identity Theft as well as the One Way Mirror Society, a report on digital signage networks, and a series of reports on data brokers, among others. Dixon has conducted substantive biometrics and identity research in India, which formed the basis of a scholarly article about India’s Aadhaar, the world’s largest biometric ID system. In 2017, A Failure to Do No Harm was published in a special issue of Springer-Nature and co-published in the Harvard-based Journal of Technology Science. Dixon has written 9 books, including titles for Random House / Times Books, among other major publishers. Her most recent book, Surveillance in America, was published in 2016 by ABC-CLIO books. Her next book on privacy is underway and will be published by ABC CLIO in 2019.

Dixon has written numerous other influential studies, including studies in the area of health, financial, online, biometric, digital signage, and workplace privacy. Dixon is an expert advisor to the OECD regarding health data uses. In 2015 she was appointed to the editorial board of Harvard’s Technology Science journal. Dixon served as co-chair of the California Privacy and Security Advisory Board, a board that reported to California’s Secretary of Health. She is also a past board member of HITSP, a national-level board for determining health information technology standards. In 2008, Dixon won the Consumer Excellence Award.

Dixon was formerly a research fellow with the Privacy Foundation at Denver University’s Sturm School of Law. There, she researched and wrote about technology-related privacy issues. Dixon has written extensively about technology both as a researcher and as a book author. Ms. Dixon has written nine books for major publishers, including two critically acclaimed books about technology and consumers. Her books include titles for Random House / Times Books, ABC/CLIO, and Wiley, among other major publishers. Dixon’s most recent book, Surveillance, was published in 2016 by ABC/CLIO. Dixon co-authored Online Privacy, a reference book, with longtime writing collaborator Robert Gellman.  Dixon has testified before Congress and Federal agencies, speaks internationally as a leading privacy expert, and is frequently quoted in the media regarding privacy and security issues.

Robert (Bob) Fay is the managing director of digital economy at CIGI. The research under his direction assesses and provides policy recommendations for the complex global governance issues arising from digital technologies. He brings to this position extensive experience in macro- and micro-economic research and policy analysis. He is also a member of the 2020–2021 Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) Ad Hoc Strategic Advisory Committee, providing feedback on the priorities the IPC will focus on over the next five years. Prior to joining CIGI, Bob held several senior roles at the Bank of Canada (BoC), most recently as senior director overseeing work to assess developments and implications arising from the digitization of the Canadian economy. As deputy director of the International Department at the BoC, he assessed global economic developments and their implications for Canada and investigated a wide variety of issues, including those related to the international monetary system and global financial architecture. He has also led the BoC’s Canadian short-term forecasting team and set up and led its first research division related to structural analysis, focusing on labour markets, productivity and exchange rate analysis. Bob was also special assistant to BoC Governor Mark Carney, serving as the governor’s chief of staff. Prior to joining the BoC, Bob was an economist at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and worked on a range of economic and labour market issues. Bob holds an M.A. in economics from Queen’s University and an undergraduate degree in applied studies (economics) from the University of Waterloo.

Cybersecurity Expert at ENISA, working in the Policy Development and Implementation unit. Coordinating digital infrastructure, cloud, and vulnerability disclosure areas. Previous experience includes cybersecurity in the telecoms and energy sector, as a senior member of the Vodafone Group Cybersecurity Unit, and the Information Security Unit of the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator.

Dr. Sameer Patil is a Senior Fellow at ORF Mumbai. His work focuses on the intersection of technology and national security, including cybersecurity. He also researches India’s national security priorities, counter-terrorism, and regional security.

Dr. Patil is the author of Securing India in the Cyber Era (Routledge, 2022) and has co-edited Moving Forward EU-India Relations: The Significance of the Security Dialogues (Edizioni Nuova Cultura, 2017). He has PhD and MPhil in international politics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Dr. Patil has participated in several Track 1 and Track 1.5 dialogues, including India-US and India-UK Strategic Intelligence Dialogues, after the 2008 Mumbai attacks and India-UK Track 1.5 Cyber Dialogue. In 2019, he received the prestigious Canberra Fellowship, awarded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia. His work and views have been cited by The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Al Jazeera, CNBC, Associated Press, and other news agencies.

Andrea Rigoni has been working in Cyber Security for more than 30 years. He is currently Partner in Deloitte Risk Advisory and leads Cyber in the Government and Public Services industry globally, working with many large governments and international organizations to improve their Cyber strategies and capabilities. Andrea leads also the Deloitte EU Digital Policy Center in Brussels. Andrea also served the Italian Prime Minister office between 2013 and 2014 as advisor to Cybersecurity: in his role, Andrea developed the Italian Digital Identity framework and co-developed the Italian National Cybersecurity strategy and framework. Andrea is also advisor to the UN/ITU on Cybersecurity, as well as a member of the Global Forum for Cyber Expertise (GFCE).

He is also a member of the Italian Government Committee on Artificial Intelligence. Andrea is also working for NATO and United Nations as advisor on Cyber Defence.

Andrew W. Wyckoff is the Director of the OECD’s Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) where he oversees OECD’s work on innovation, business dynamics, science and technology, information and communication technology policy as well as the statistical work associated with each of these areas.

His experience prior to the OECD includes being a program manager of the Information, Telecommunications and Commerce program of the US Congressional Office of Technology Assessment (OTA), an economist at the US National Science Foundation (NSF) and a programmer at The Brookings Institution.

He has served as an expert on various advisory groups and panels which include joining the Global Board of Trustees of Digital Future Society (DFS), being a Commissioner on the Lancet/FT Governing Health Futures 2030 Commission, the International Advisory Board of the Research Council of Norway and Head of OECD’s Delegation at the G20 and G7 meetings on ICT and Digital Economy.

Mr. Wyckoff is a citizen of the United States, holds a BA in Economics from the University of Vermont, and a Master of Public Policy from the JFK School of Government, Harvard University.

Dr Venkatachalam Anbumozhi has published several books, authored numerous research articles and produced many project reports on resource management policies, energy infrastructure design, and private sector participation in Green Growth. Dr Anbumozhi was invited as a member of the APEC Expert Panel on Green Climate Finance and the ASEAN Panel for promoting climate-resilient growth. He has taught resource management, International cooperation and Development Finance at the University of Tokyo and has speaking engagements at some of the leading international organisations. He obtained his PhD from the University of Tokyo.
