The events of the past thirteen months – one of the darkest pages of the history of the Middle East – will continue to mark the region in the years to come. As the death toll in Israel-Palestine, Lebanon and beyond continues to rise and new war fronts open up, the future of the Mediterranean region is in jeopardy. Despite its limits, the ongoing diplomatic activity in the region and beyond represents perhaps the only glimmer of hope in such a gloomy context.
What is needed to prevent further escalation in the Middle East? How can we bring about peace and stability in the region? And where do we start picking up the pieces?
